Fazlur Rehman Calls for Arrest of Sheikh Idris Killers, Announces Nationwide Protest

Charsadda: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has demanded that state institutions stop “taking salaries for free” and ensure the immediate arrest of those involved in the killing of Sheikh Idris.
Speaking at the residence of the late Sheikh Idris, Fazlur Rehman said the killing was a great tragedy for the Muslim community, adding that the entire Ummah is deeply saddened by his death. He stated that Sheikh Idris, who spent his life promoting peace, fell victim to violence, and “Allah will take revenge from the oppressors through His power.”
The JUI-F chief said that institutions and the government must fulfill their responsibility by arresting the perpetrators of the attack. He announced that nationwide protests will be held after Friday prayers against the killing, while the future course of action will be announced at a public gathering in Karachi.
Fazlur Rehman further stated that his party has always stood for the protection of Pakistan and its constitution, adding that many religious scholars have been martyred across the country from Karachi to Bajaur. He stressed that JUI-F leaders have always supported peace and will never support violence.
He also criticized extremist elements, saying that scholars are being targeted and labeled unjustly, which he termed unacceptable. He added that JUI-F believes armed struggle within Pakistan is not permissible and called on the youth not to be misled by emotional slogans.
Fazlur Rehman concluded by urging dialogue to resolve differences, warning that those who promote violence will ultimately face consequences.
