Amanullah Kanrani Defends BHC Chief Justice, Rejects Allegations by Munir Kakar

Quetta (Daily Qudrat): Former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan Amanullah Kanrani has strongly criticized the recent statement of Pakistan Bar Council member Munir Ahmed Kakar, calling it divisive and based on unfounded allegations against the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court.
In his response, Kanrani said that attributing allegations of interference in land settlement matters to the Chief Justice amounts to distorting facts. He stated that settlement matters fall under the jurisdiction of the provincial revenue department, not the judiciary.
He added that the Chief Justice should not be blamed for administrative or revenue-related issues, and warned that attempts to link judicial leadership with such matters were misleading and irresponsible.
Kanrani further said that if anyone has grievances regarding settlements or decisions, they should pursue legal remedies through proper constitutional and judicial forums instead of making public accusations.
He also rejected claims of improper conduct by the Chief Justice, saying that criticism appeared to stem from resistance to decisions taken on merit and principles rather than pressure or influence.
Defending the judiciary, he stated that courts act through written judgments and legal reasoning, and any challenge to decisions must be addressed through legal procedures rather than public rhetoric.
Kanrani also alleged that the current Chief Justice is not influenced by pressure tactics and is committed to merit-based decision-making. He urged that efforts to undermine judicial authority through “blackmail or pressure” should be resisted.
He concluded by expressing support for the Chief Justice and said that the legal community across Balochistan stands behind the judiciary in upholding rule of law and merit-based justice.
