White House Says Trump Set No Deadline for Iran Ceasefire Deal

Washington — White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt has stated that President Donald Trump has not set any formal deadline for a ceasefire agreement with Iran, rejecting media reports suggesting a three- to five-day timeline.
Speaking to reporters, Leavitt clarified that no fixed timeframe has been imposed on Tehran for reaching a deal. “The president has not given Iran any deadline for an agreement. The timing will be determined by the commander-in-chief,” she said.
She added that while no official deadline exists, the United States is allowing Iran a few days to present a unified proposal. During this period, a temporary ceasefire could remain in place as Washington awaits Tehran’s response.
Leavitt further noted that President Trump is seeking a coordinated and unified reaction from Iran regarding any potential extension of the ceasefire. She emphasized that economic pressure remains a key factor, claiming that measures imposed by the U.S. have pushed Iran back toward negotiations.
Referring to strategic developments, the spokesperson said the president is satisfied with the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and reiterated that Washington expects Iran to hand over enriched uranium as part of any agreement.
She also alleged that Iran’s private communications with the United States differ from its public statements, underscoring ongoing complexities in the negotiation process.
