Balochistan CM Vows Full Budget Utilization, Dismisses Talk of Political Change

QUETTA: Mir Sarfraz Bugti has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fully utilize the provincial budget and dismissed speculation about any political change in Balochistan.
Speaking to the media during the inauguration of a road from Chaman Phatak to Coal Phatak in Quetta, the chief minister said those wishing for political change in the province are free to “fulfill their desire,” indicating confidence in his administration.
He revealed that Asif Ali Zardari had contacted him both before and after meeting parliamentary members, adding that any instructions given by the president would be implemented “in letter and spirit.”
Bugti emphasized that the provincial government is determined to spend 100 percent of the allocated budget this fiscal year, stating that public funds must be used entirely for public welfare. He noted that development spending, initially set at Rs249 billion, has increased due to additional requirements, but assured that full utilization will be ensured, as was achieved last year.
Addressing infrastructure development, he said the road near Pishin Stop, which had been partially closed following a security incident near an FC residence, will be fully reopened once construction of a protective wall is completed. He also announced that the newly inaugurated road will be expanded into a dual carriageway within 70 days.
On law and order, the chief minister acknowledged some improvement in security conditions but noted that Balochistan remains a conflict-prone region. He said efforts are underway to counter proxy threats and ensure the safety of every citizen, adding that a new strategy is being implemented to reduce street crime in Quetta.
Bugti reiterated that the government is accelerating development projects in the provincial capital and remains focused on stability and progress despite ongoing challenges.
