Ceasefire Extended on Request of Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir, Says Trump; “Pakistan Has Once Again Shown Favor to the World”

Islamabad: A major development has emerged amid escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, as former US President Donald Trump stated that the ceasefire with Iran has been extended following a request from Pakistan.
In a post on social media, Trump said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir had requested a halt in US actions against Iran until the Iranian leadership reached a consensus proposal.
This development comes at a time when US Vice President JD Vance’s planned visit to Islamabad for potential ceasefire negotiations with Iran has been postponed, while Tehran has yet to make a final decision regarding participation in talks.

Following the announcement, social media users in Pakistan widely praised the country’s diplomatic role, claiming that Pakistan’s efforts helped prevent a major global conflict.

Commentator Ahsan Gul said the episode would be remembered in history, stating that among billions of people worldwide, only Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir played such a decisive role that even a superpower like the United States had to step back from military action.

Another user, Saif Awan, remarked that Pakistan has once again done a favor to the world by facilitating a ceasefire for the second time.

Social media user Mazammal shared a video of anchor Shahzeb Khanzada, in which it was stated that Pakistan helped prevent massive global destruction, warning that renewed conflict could have led to severe consequences worldwide.

Journalist Kiran Naz also noted that Trump announced the ceasefire extension until Iran agrees to negotiations, highlighting Pakistan’s leadership role in the process.

Azhar Muhammad Khan stated that while the future of the conflict remains uncertain, it is clear that Pakistan made extraordinary diplomatic efforts beyond its capacity.
Commentator Mubasher Zaidi wrote that once again, due to Pakistan’s efforts, an indefinite ceasefire has been achieved between Iran and the United States.
Meanwhile, social media users continued to praise Pakistan, calling it a source of hope for the world.

It is worth noting that the earlier ceasefire between the US and Iran had expired at 4:50 AM (Pakistan Standard Time) on April 22.
