PTI Faces Internal Criticism as Sher Afzal Marwat Targets Sohail Afridi’s Performance

Member of Parliament Sher Afzal Marwat has strongly criticized fellow party figure Sohail Afridi, stating that the public now demands performance rather than slogans, amid reports of internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In a statement shared on social media, Marwat claimed that thousands of PTI workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have announced a boycott of a planned public gathering in Mardan, which had been described as a “historic rally” by Sohail Afridi.

He further pointed out that key figures, including Aleema Khan and Mahmood Khan Achakzai, had already distanced themselves from the event, raising questions about its significance and potential success.

Marwat criticized Afridi’s performance, saying it was currently limited to statements, promises, and “kite-flying in the air,” implying a lack of tangible achievements. He also alluded to circulating allegations of corruption, suggesting that accountability concerns were already emerging even before the rally.

He added that there are rumors the event could be canceled altogether. However, if it proceeds, he remarked that the people of Mardan would respond with the same “enthusiasm” typically shown toward an unsuccessful performer.

The remarks highlight growing tensions within PTI ranks as the party navigates internal disagreements and challenges in mobilizing public support.
