Indian Media Claims Backchannel Diplomacy Between Pakistan and India After 2025 Conflict

New Delhi: Indian media has claimed that informal backchannel diplomacy is ongoing between Pakistan and India following the May 2025 conflict.
According to an Indian newspaper report, at least four Track-II or backchannel meetings have taken place between experts, politicians, and former diplomats of the two countries since the escalation in May 2025.
The report claims that the fourth round of informal talks was held in Doha in February this year. It further states that the first such meeting took place two months after the May 2025 hostilities, with support from a British think tank.
Sources cited in the report suggest that the initial meetings were marked by a tense atmosphere, while later rounds reportedly saw a more cautious and softened tone between the participants.
The Indian publication also claimed that after the brief but intense four-day clashes in May 2025, official diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and India had largely been suspended, making informal channels the only avenue of communication.
There has been no official confirmation from either government regarding these reported backchannel meetings.
