Hajj Operation Update: Decision on Ticket Distribution, Fare Relief Announced for Pilgrims

Islamabad: A final decision has been reached regarding increased Hajj airfare due to the ongoing fuel crisis, with authorities confirming that the additional financial burden will not be fully passed on to pilgrims and will instead be shared between the government and airlines.

According to sources, airlines had initially demanded an increase of around $250 per passenger in fuel charges. However, after negotiations, the increase has been reduced to approximately $100. The additional cost will now be equally shared by airlines and the Ministry of Religious Affairs, providing significant relief to thousands of intending pilgrims.

Officials said that both national and private airlines have agreed to the revised arrangement, significantly reducing concerns about delays in the Hajj operation. Ticket issuance has also resumed to ensure that flight schedules remain unaffected.

Under a key administrative decision, pilgrims under the government scheme—many of whom do not have access to email facilities—will receive their travel tickets directly at airports. Special counters are being set up for this purpose to facilitate smooth processing and avoid inconvenience.

Authorities have advised pilgrims to arrive at the airport at least eight hours before their scheduled departure to complete all necessary procedures on time. Officials assured that all flights will operate according to schedule and the Hajj operation will continue without interruption.
