Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab Says He Is Accountable to Public, Urges Focus on Real Issues

Karachi: Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has stated that he remains accountable to the public and is ready to answer all questions regarding city affairs.
Addressing a City Council session, Wahab said that citizens of Karachi must decide whether they want a council focused on solving issues or one driven by slogans. He emphasized the importance of responsible governance, noting that decisions made today will impact future generations.
He highlighted that representatives from multiple political parties, including the Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, are present in the council, but alleged that certain elements do not want meaningful discussions on public issues.
“I am grateful to all members for showing patience,” he said, adding that some groups are not interested in maintaining peace and order in the city.
Wahab further announced that the council forum is open to all members to raise their concerns and present public issues. He expressed willingness to continue sessions even without a formal agenda to ensure discussions take place.
He concluded by reiterating that the people of Karachi should decide whether they prefer a constructive council or one limited to rhetoric.
