Balochistan Bans Use of Official Vehicles After Office Hours, Introduces Strict Monitoring Measures

Quetta: The Government of Balochistan has imposed a ban on the use of official vehicles after office hours and approved strict monitoring mechanisms, including tracking systems and Safe City surveillance, under austerity measures.

The decisions were taken during a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, aimed at ensuring transparent and efficient use of public resources.

The meeting directed the immediate return of government vehicles currently in use by unauthorized individuals, including former governors, chief ministers, ministers, ex-lawmakers, retired officers, and other غیر متعلقہ persons. Strict action was ordered in case of non-compliance.

It was also decided that a comprehensive audit of all official vehicles would be conducted, while fuel supply would be restricted only to verified and authorized vehicles. Additionally, vehicles manufactured before 2005 will be auctioned in phases, and fleet rationalization will be carried out.

A complete ban has been imposed on the use of official vehicles after office hours. However, vehicles may be used for official duties only with prior approval from the competent authority. Violations will result in action against the concerned officer.

The meeting further approved the installation of trackers in all government vehicles, and imposed a ban on taking official vehicles خارج the province without permission. Movement of vehicles within cities will be monitored through Safe City cameras to enhance transparency and oversight.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti stated that misuse of public resources will not be tolerated and strict implementation of austerity measures will be ensured. He emphasized that indiscriminate action will be taken against unauthorized and unnecessary use of government vehicles.
