Iran FM Denies Refusing Talks in Pakistan, Praises Islamabad’s Diplomatic Efforts

Tehran: Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that Iran has never refused to participate in negotiations in Pakistan, while expressing appreciation for Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts.
In a message shared on social media platform X, Araghchi thanked Pakistan for its support and solidarity, emphasizing that Iran remains committed to pursuing a peaceful resolution to ongoing tensions.
“We have never declined to come to Islamabad,” he said, adding that Iran’s priority is to achieve conditions that ensure a complete and lasting end to what he described as an “imposed and unlawful war.”
Iran's position is being misrepresented by U.S. media.
We are deeply grateful to Pakistan for its efforts and have never refused to go to Islamabad. What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting END to the illegal war that is imposed on us.

The foreign minister reiterated that Iran is open to any solution that guarantees a durable and comprehensive cessation of hostilities. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s continued diplomatic engagement and support in this regard.
Araghchi strongly rejected what he called false propaganda, clarifying that reports suggesting Iran had refused talks in Islamabad were baseless. He criticized what he described as fabricated narratives circulated by sections of Western and Indian media.
In a notable gesture, the Iranian foreign minister concluded his message in Urdu, expressing gratitude by saying “Pakistan Zindabad” and thanking the country for its support.
