Heavy Rains Alert in KP: Flash Floods and Landslides Feared Until April 4

Peshawar — Authorities have issued a weather alert across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds are expected from today until April 4, raising concerns of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, local streams and nullahs may experience flash flooding, while hilly regions remain at risk of landslides due to continuous rainfall.
The department warned that strong winds, hailstorms, and lightning could damage weak structures, including electricity poles, billboards, solar panels, and standing crops. Tourists and travelers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise caution.
Rain accompanied by gusty winds and thunderstorms is expected in districts including Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Kohat, Karak, Bannu, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.
Similarly, rain with thunder is forecast for Chitral, Dir, Bajaur, Swat, Buner, Malakand, Shangla, and Kohistan.
Other districts including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Mohmand, Peshawar, Charsadda, and Nowshera may also receive rain along with snowfall over higher mountains.
The department added that some areas could experience heavy downpours and hailstorms during this period.
In the last 24 hours, Dera Ismail Khan recorded **21 mm** of rainfall, followed by Parachinar with **17 mm** and Bannu with **9 mm**.
Temperature readings showed a maximum of **30°C** in Dera Ismail Khan, while Kalam recorded a minimum temperature of **4°C**.
