Protest Held Over Yaro Tragedy; Committee Demands Immediate Arrest and Punishment of Killers

Quetta (April 1, 2026): A large protest was held in Quetta against the failure of authorities to arrest the perpetrators of the Yaro massacre, where innocent members of a respected family were killed in a brutal attack. Organizers warned that if the government continues its inaction, the protests could escalate to shutter-down strikes and road blockages.
Speaking at the demonstration, Abdul Sattar Kakr, head of the Yaro Peace Committee and a leader of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party, along with other party leaders, condemned the killing of the victims, including a young girl and her relatives, and highlighted the violation of Pashtun traditions and family sanctity. They stressed that the blood of the martyrs would not be allowed to go in vain and demanded swift justice.
The speakers criticized the government for its helplessness and silence, accusing certain powerful individuals of shielding criminals from law enforcement. They urged the immediate arrest and punishment of both the attackers and their accomplices to restore public trust and prevent future atrocities in Pashtun society.
The protesters, including political party activists, citizens, and members of the Yaro Peace Committee, chanted slogans such as “Justice or Resign,” “Arrest and Punish the Killers,” and “Provide Safety and Justice to the Victims’ Families.” Organizers warned that if assurances from the authorities are not acted upon, a more stringent plan of protest would soon be announced.
