Artificial Leadership and Non-Popular Decisions Pushing Balochistan Toward Chaos and Instability: JUI-F
Quetta (News Desk) — The leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, political uncertainty, economic collapse, and public deprivation in Balochistan, saying the province has been pushed to a critical point due to “artificial leadership and non-public decisions.”
In a joint statement, JUI-F Balochistan Amir Senator Maulana Abdul Waseh and General Secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah said that the people of Balochistan currently feel insecure, politically isolated, and abandoned. They stated that decades of neglect of core political and economic issues have resulted in rising unrest, unemployment, and a growing sense of deprivation.
The leadership alleged that violation of public mandate and sidelining of genuine representatives have strengthened narratives that claim Balochistan’s issues cannot be resolved through democratic and parliamentary processes. They added that political engineering and imposition of “artificial leadership” has historically led to instability and harm to the state.
They recalled that JUI-F has always supported constitutional supremacy, democracy, and parliamentary politics in Balochistan, and its workers have made sacrifices, including imprisonment and loss of life, to uphold democratic struggle. However, they said the party is now being “punished” for its political stance.
The statement further said that insecurity, fear, and economic distress have engulfed every part of the province. Trade has declined, agriculture has been affected, and investment has stopped, while youth are increasingly frustrated due to unemployment and lack of opportunities. They also criticized border closures, saying it has severely impacted thousands of families and small businesses.
They further criticized recent government decisions, including the Mines and Minerals Act, controversial legislation on child marriage, and the merger of Levies Force into police, terming them unpopular and disruptive to local systems. They also dismissed some government relief initiatives, including bike financing schemes, as symbolic measures that fail to address real issues.
JUI-F leaders questioned whether sustainable peace could ever be achieved by ignoring genuine stakeholders and imposing decisions without public consent. They argued that past political arrangements and agreements have repeatedly sidelined Balochistan’s true representatives, deepening public mistrust.
They concluded that the solution to Balochistan’s problems lies not in cosmetic measures or political manipulation, but in restoring public trust, including genuine representatives in decision-making, and adopting fair and inclusive political and economic policies. They warned that continued disregard for ground realities could have severe consequences not only for the province but for the entire country.
