Balochistan Launches Merit-Based Hiring and Telehealth Expansion for Remote Healthcare

Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has announced a major reform in the province’s healthcare system, emphasizing merit-based recruitment and the expansion of telehealth services to provide quality medical care in remote areas.

During a high-level review meeting in Quetta, Chief Minister Bugti directed that all staffing at hospitals in Upper Dera Bugti and Sui will be strictly based on merit, with no political or administrative interference tolerated.

Key Decisions:

Merit-Based Recruitment: All hospital hiring in remote districts will follow strict merit principles to ensure transparency and professionalism.
Telehealth Expansion: Modern technology will be used to extend healthcare access to areas with limited doctor availability. A robust monitoring system will be implemented to maintain service quality and accountability.
Upgrading Basic Health Units (BHUs): Strengthening BHUs will reduce pressure on larger hospitals and ensure citizens can receive care close to home.
Bacha Khan Memorial Hospital: Administrative and operational improvements were directed for the hospital located in Quetta’s Zarghoon Housing Scheme.

Chief Minister Bugti instructed authorities to swiftly remove obstacles to healthcare delivery at the district level so that every resident of Balochistan, no matter how remote their location, can access quality medical treatment.

The initiative signals a major step toward equitable healthcare and institutional transparency in one of Pakistan’s most underserved regions.
