Samsung Discontinues Premium Galaxy Z Tri-Fold Phone Just Months After Launch

Seoul/Washington: Tech giant Samsung has decided to discontinue its most expensive and advanced foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Tri-Fold, only two months after its launch, according to reports.
The device, introduced on December 1, 2025, was a unique tri-fold smartphone that could expand into a 10-inch display. Initially launched in South Korea and later in the United States on January 30, the phone carried a hefty price tag of $2,899.
Reasons Behind the Decision
Industry experts suggest that Samsung positioned the device more as a “technology showcase” rather than a mass-market product, highlighting its cutting-edge foldable screen capabilities. However, rising global costs of key components such as DRAM, NAND flash, and application processors significantly reduced profit margins, prompting the company to halt further production and sales.
Market Response
Despite selling out within minutes of its U.S. launch, the device has now disappeared from Samsung’s official website. The company has indicated that once existing stock is exhausted, no further units will be supplied. Analysts describe it as a niche product aimed primarily at tech enthusiasts.
Alternative Options
Following this move, consumers interested in foldable technology may look toward alternatives such as the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate and Tecno Phantom Ultimate G. It remains unclear whether Samsung will introduce a more affordable or improved version in the future or temporarily pause its tri-fold innovation.
