PkMAP Urges Government to Ensure Return of Pakistanis Stranded in Afghanistan Before Eid

Quetta — Leaders of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party have urged the government to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens stranded in Afghanistan due to the closure of the Durand Line before Eid al-Fitr.
In a joint statement, the party’s provincial president Nasrullah Khan Zerey, provincial secretary Faqir Khushhal Kasi, and deputy secretaries Sir Azam Achakzai and Hayat Khan Achakzai said that several Pakistani citizens have been stranded in Afghanistan for the past month after the border crossing was suddenly closed.
According to the statement, many of the affected individuals are traders, businessmen, and laborers from Quetta and Chaman who had traveled to Afghanistan on valid visas. However, due to the border closure and the prevailing tense situation, they have been unable to return home.
The party leaders said the families of those stranded are facing severe anxiety and emotional distress, especially as the holy month of Ramadan is nearing its end and only a few days remain before Eid.
They noted that people in border regions maintain strong social and economic ties on both sides and frequently cross the border for trade, labor, and other essential activities. The prolonged closure, they said, has not only trapped individuals but also disrupted livelihoods and businesses.
The party called on the Government of Pakistan and relevant authorities to take immediate humanitarian steps to ensure the safe return of Pakistani citizens stranded in Afghanistan. It also demanded that the Durand Line be temporarily reopened before Eid so that these individuals can reunite with their families and celebrate the festival together.
