Analyst Claims Imran Khan May Be Released from Jail and Celebrate Eid at Home

Lahore: Senior Pakistani analyst and journalist Zulfiqar Rahat has claimed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan could soon be released from jail and may celebrate Eid at home.

Speaking in a YouTube program hosted by Naeem Saqib, Rahat alleged that a meeting had taken place between Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir and PTI founder Imran Khan, during which misunderstandings were resolved. According to Rahat, both sides agreed to move past previous events and work toward political stability.

He claimed that arrangements have been finalized and that Imran Khan could be released within the next two weeks, potentially offering Eid prayers at home. Rahat said he was confident about the development and suggested that direct discussions between the two figures had taken place.

During the discussion, Rahat also predicted that 2026 could be an election year in Pakistan, adding that transparent elections may be held. He argued that the prolonged political deadlock between a popular political leader and powerful state institutions had caused significant damage to the country.

The analyst further stated that Pakistan’s middle class, which he described as a key support base for Imran Khan, has become increasingly disillusioned with the political system. He warned that economic pressures and political uncertainty have led to capital outflows and declining public engagement in the country’s governance.

Rahat emphasized that restoring political stability and re-engaging the middle class would be crucial for Pakistan’s economic and social recovery.
