Multiple Records Broken in Thrilling T20 World Cup Semi-Final Between India and England

Lahore: Several records were shattered during the high-scoring semi-final clash between India national cricket team and England cricket team in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The match turned into a batting spectacle as both teams combined for 499 runs, making it the second-highest aggregate in T20 cricket history.
India posted 253 runs, the highest total ever recorded in a T20 International knockout match, while England responded with 246 runs, the second-highest total in such matches.
Before this encounter, only the West Indies cricket team had managed to score 200-plus runs in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
England’s Jacob Bethell played a remarkable innings of 105 runs, which became the highest individual score in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
For India, Sanju Samson scored 89 runs, the highest individual score by an Indian player in a T20 World Cup knockout match.
The game also saw an extraordinary display of power hitting, with both teams striking 73 fours and 34 sixes, the most boundaries ever recorded in a T20 World Cup match.
England pacer Jofra Archer conceded seven sixes, equaling the record for the most sixes hit off a bowler in a T20 World Cup match. The record was previously set against Stuart Broad in 2007 and Xavier Doherty in 2012.
With the victory, the India national cricket team became the first team to reach the T20 World Cup final four times, surpassing Sri Lanka national cricket team, Pakistan national cricket team, and England cricket team, all of whom have played three finals each.
It also marks the first time in T20 World Cup history that the defending champions have reached the final. Previously, Pakistan (2007, 2009) and Sri Lanka (2012, 2014) had managed to reach two consecutive finals in the tournament’s history.
