Electricity Prices Hiked Across Pakistan, Karachi Consumers to Pay Extra Rs 1.63 Per Unit

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** The government has increased electricity tariffs for consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi, by Rs 1.63 per unit based on the monthly fuel adjustment following the quarterly tariff review.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification confirming the hike, which reflects the fuel price adjustment for January. The additional charges will be applied in March electricity bills and will also affect K-Electric consumers.

The notification clarified that Lifeline consumers and electric vehicle charging stations will not be impacted by this increase. NEPRA had reserved its decision on the January fuel price adjustment after conducting a hearing.

It is worth noting that NEPRA had already increased electricity rates by 35 paisa per unit under the quarterly adjustment announced the previous day. This latest hike adds to the financial burden on households and businesses amid rising energy costs.
