Anurag Kashyap Slams ‘The Kerala Story 2,’ Calls It Propaganda

Mumbai: Bollywood filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap has strongly criticized the upcoming film The Kerala Story 2, calling it propaganda and accusing its makers of prioritizing profit over meaningful storytelling.
The sequel, releasing nearly three years after the original film, has once again sparked controversy. The film is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah and directed by Kamakshya Narayan Singh.
Speaking to the media at Cochin International Airport, Kashyap said the film appears designed to divide audiences and lacks a meaningful narrative. He also referenced a controversial scene in which a woman is allegedly shown being force-fed meat.
Kashyap dismissed the portrayal as unrealistic and sensationalized. “This is all nonsense. No one feeds meat like that, nor is food presented in such a manner. The only aim is to make money. The filmmaker is being greedy,” he said.
Meanwhile, biologist Sridevi Namboodiri has filed a petition in the Kerala High Court, challenging the film’s release.
The sequel has reignited debate over content and representation in Indian cinema, with critics and supporters expressing sharply divided views.
