MQM Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui Accuses Ruling Party of Holding Sindh Illegally

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chairman of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan, has accused the ruling party of exercising artificial majority to control Sindh and criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for passing a resolution he called unconstitutional.
Speaking at a press conference in Karachi alongside party leaders, Siddiqui said that the resolution presented in the Sindh Assembly yesterday was approved under the shadow of fear and suggested that the province is acting as if it is above Pakistan’s constitution.
He highlighted the disparity in political representation, questioning how a party with 170 seats in the general assembly and 80 seats in government can claim authority, while an artificial majority allows one party to dominate Sindh.
Siddiqui emphasized that MQM Pakistan seeks peaceful solutions through dialogue and reaffirmed that the party would not allow the fulfillment of any “Sindhudesh” agenda. He stressed that Sindh is the country’s most linguistically diverse province and has faced decades of injustice, especially in urban areas.
Referring to constitutional provisions, he noted that Article 239 permits the formation of new provinces, Article 140A mandates empowering local governments, and Article 48, Clause 6 allows for referendums. Siddiqui warned that if Supreme Court rulings are not implemented, MQM Pakistan may file another contempt of court petition.
