Fake Cancer Drug Factory Busted in Karachi; Large Consignment Seized

Karachi: A factory producing counterfeit medicines for cancer patients was raided in Karachi, leading to the seizure of a large consignment of illegal drugs.

According to sources in the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Anti-Corruption Circle conducted a raid in the suburban area of Ahsanabad, targeting a facility involved in manufacturing fake and unregistered medicines. Authorities confiscated a significant quantity of pain relief medication falsely marketed for cancer patients.

Officials revealed that while the legally approved dosage of the medicine is up to 50 milligrams, the factory was producing tablets containing 225 milligrams — a potentially dangerous amount that could prove fatal in some cases. The counterfeit drugs were allegedly being supplied not only within Pakistan but also to other countries through illegal channels.

During the operation, a shipment intended for distribution in local markets was also intercepted. The seized fake medicines, raw materials, and machinery are estimated to be worth millions of rupees.

Sources said several suspects have been arrested, and further arrests are expected as the investigation continues.
