Pakistan PM Announces Formal U.S.-Iran Agreement, Strait of Hormuz to Reopen
Islamabad:** Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the United States and Iran have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) through electronic signatures, marking a major diplomatic breakthrough between the two countries.
In a statement posted on X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the historic agreement has been signed by the presidents of both nations and that he has also endorsed the document in his role as mediator.
The Prime Minister described the development as a clear indication that both sides are committed to resolving their differences through diplomatic engagement and dialogue.
According to Sharif, the U.S.-Iran agreement has come into effect immediately. As an initial confidence-building measure, Iran has decided to reopen the Strait of Hormuz with immediate effect, while the United States has agreed to end its maritime blockade.
The agreement is being viewed as a significant step toward reducing regional tensions and improving relations between Washington and Tehran following a period of heightened confrontation.
