Mahmood Khan Achakzai Criticizes Parliament’s Functionality and Proposes National Government to Resolve Crisis

Quetta:Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and member of the National Assembly, has voiced strong criticism regarding the current state of Pakistan’s Parliament and the functioning of its Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq. In an exclusive interview with a private TV channel, Achakzai expressed his dismay over educated individuals undermining the Parliament, which he believes is turning into a “debating society.”

Achakzai criticized the recent actions and decisions of Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, stating that his leadership has contributed to the erosion of parliamentary authority. He pointed out that Sadiq, who has served as Speaker multiple times, has been involved in behind-the-scenes maneuvers, including meetings with members of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) in Balochistan to discuss political strategies and election outcomes.

According to Achakzai, there are concerns about the transparency and fairness of the electoral process, with accusations that Sadiq has been involved in pre-arranging political positions and outcomes. He revealed that a trusted associate had relayed information about Sadiq’s plans and meetings, which included discussions about securing a two-thirds majority and pre-selecting future key political figures.

Achakzai called for a motion of no confidence against Speaker Sadiq, suggesting that it is crucial to challenge his role and actions in Parliament. He expressed disappointment that a figure like Nawaz Sharif, who had championed the respect for votes, now appears to be associated with an individual who he believes is undermining parliamentary integrity.

To address the ongoing political crisis, Achakzai proposed the formation of a national government. He recommended that representatives from major political parties, including Nawaz Sharif’s party, Pakistan Peoples Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other political factions, come together to form a coalition government for three months. This temporary government would aim to resolve current issues and organize immediate general elections.

Achakzai emphasized that if this proposal is not accepted and implemented, all political leaders will share responsibility for the ongoing crises facing the country.
