Power Is Not Permanent, Today Yours, Tomorrow Ours: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has said that power is not permanent and vowed that “today is your turn, tomorrow will be ours,” promising accountability for all injustices.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Applied Sciences upgradation program at Government College of Engineering & Technology in Jamrud, Afridi accused past policies of deliberately keeping Jamrud behind in development. “Jamrud will now advance in education like the most developed nations. Following Imran Khan’s vision, we will invest in human capital,” he said. He added that while the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are proud and brave, they are not fools, and will oppose any policy that harms their province.

Afridi criticized the national media, saying it ignores the plight of the province’s people while failing to hold those responsible for siphoning Rs5 trillion accountable. He cited the release of Rs4 billion for Tiraah valley victims, after which he faced continuous negative coverage.

The CM said he has followed all constitutional procedures to meet PTI founder Imran Khan, but permission has not been granted. “If access is denied despite following legal procedures, protests will be launched, but they will remain within constitutional and legal limits,” he stated.

He strongly condemned the imprisonment of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, highlighting violations of basic rights and discriminatory treatment against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM, including restrictions on jail visits and the stop-listing of his passport. “If this is happening to a chief minister, imagine the situation of the common people,” he said.

Afridi also announced free transport services for all merged-district colleges and the launch of programs in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, and Software Engineering in Jamrud. He emphasized the government’s focus on modern education to empower youth with knowledge rather than arms, and the establishment of state-of-the-art labs and libraries in KP colleges. The new educational model will expand from Jamrud to Battagram, Waziristan, and Chitral.

“Without modern science and technology, competing on the global stage is impossible,” he added, urging the youth to stand for their rights and promising that the provincial government will oppose any policy against KP’s interests.
