Terrorism Should Be Addressed Through Regional Dialogue, Says Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily): Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai emphasized that issues of terrorism and suicide attacks should be discussed directly with neighboring countries in the region.

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament in Islamabad, Achakzai highlighted rising tensions across Pashtun and Baloch areas on the other side of the Indus River and stressed that Parliament should take steps to address terrorism-related challenges.

He noted that the recent Islamabad attack has been claimed by ISIS and traced the origins of regional terrorism to international groups supporting the conflict against Russia in Afghanistan. Achakzai added that Afghanistan remains the only war involving the entire world, and attempts are now being made to draw Pakistan and the region into conflict under the pretext of Iran.

The opposition leader called for the United Nations to convene a joint conference of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and other neighboring countries, urging Afghanistan to answer questions in front of the international community. He further stated that powerful members of the UN Security Council should hold regional dialogue to ensure lasting peace.
