Three-Year-Old Child Dies After Falling into Sewage Pit in Bahawalnagar
BAHAWALNAGAR: A three-year-old child lost his life after falling into a pit filled with dirty water in Bahawalnagar, police said on Monday.
According to police, the tragic incident occurred on Adda Sondha Road, where the child accidentally fell into an open sewage pit. Residents of the area rushed to the scene and managed to retrieve the child’s body from the pit before shifting it to a nearby hospital.
The incident comes just days after a similar tragedy near Bhati Gate in Lahore, where a mother and her son died after falling into an open sewer. Following that incident, Punjab Chief Minister had ordered strict action, announcing punishment for those involved in stealing, buying, or selling manhole covers.
Despite these directives, such incidents have continued. In another recent case, a three-year-old child died after falling into an open manhole at a wedding hall in Kasur, raising serious concerns over public safety and negligence.
