Mahmood Achakzai Urges Maulana Fazlur Rehman to Suspend or Postpone February 8 Rally

Islamabad (Qudrat Roznama) — Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai has appealed to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to suspend or postpone the rally scheduled for February 8 so that it does not affect the planned nationwide wheel-jam strike.

According to details, a delegation of the Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan, led by Mahmood Achakzai, met Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Sources said the delegation requested that the February 8 rally either be postponed or rescheduled to a different time to ensure that both programs do not clash with each other.

The JUI-F chief stated that a strategy is being formulated regarding the rally so that nationwide strike and wheel-jam activities remain unaffected. During the meeting, it was decided that protests would be held in all four provincial capitals, while demonstrations would also take place outside press clubs across the country.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman is expected to address a gathering at Taji Khokhar Dera in Islamabad, while large-scale protests are also anticipated in Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar.

During the meeting, both leaders strongly condemned the recent Islamabad bombing. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that they want to see a strong and stable state.

Sources further revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to meet Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai at the opposition leader’s chamber next week to ensure coordination and balance between government and opposition programs.
