Anti-Terrorism Court Grants 7-Day Physical Remand for Suspect in Case Against Chief Justice Pakistan

Lahore: The Anti-Terrorism Court has granted a 7-day physical remand for a suspect involved in issuing a fatwa against the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The suspect, Maulana Tahir Saifi, a leader of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik, was presented in the Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court where his speech was played for the court.

During the hearing, Judge Khalid Arshad asked the suspect, “You speak with great fervor; is this your speech?” The suspect confirmed, “Yes, it is my speech.”

The court inquired why the suspect was making statements against the Chief Justice of Pakistan. The suspect replied that they were advising the Chief Justice to be cautious, asserting that the decision made was against the constitution and that there is still an opportunity for the Chief Justice to review the decision.

The investigating officer informed the court that a photogrammetric test of the suspect and the recovery of the microphone were required, necessitating the physical remand.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court approved the 7-day physical remand of the suspect and ordered his reappearance on August 6.
