Nationwide Crackdown on Smuggling: Narcotics Worth Over PKR 240 Million Seized

Islamabad: In a nationwide operation against smuggling, authorities have recovered narcotics worth over PKR 24 crore.

According to a spokesperson, the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted operations around educational institutions and in various cities across the country. A total of nine operations were carried out, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of 258.94 kilograms of narcotics valued at more than PKR 24.48 crore.

During operations near educational institutions, 2 kilograms of ice were recovered from a suspect’s bag near Sahu Chowk, Multan. The arrested individual admitted to selling drugs to students.

In other operations, 2.5 kilograms of ice were recovered from a courier office in Gulberg, Lahore, hidden inside books in a parcel destined for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Similarly, 765 grams of ice were seized from a parcel going to Dubai at the cargo shed of Allama Iqbal Airport. At a courier office on Shah Jamal Road, Lahore, 6.72 kilograms (67,200 tablets) of Valium were seized from a parcel bound for the United Kingdom.

Near Rang Road, Peshawar, authorities recovered 15.6 kilograms of opium from a vehicle and arrested the suspect. On the Indus Highway near Kohat, 10.8 kilograms of hashish were seized and two suspects were arrested. At the Fateh Jang Toll Plaza near Islamabad, 2.4 kilograms of hashish were recovered from another vehicle, leading to an arrest.

Additionally, 20.16 kilograms of Valium tablets were seized from a parcel arriving from Karachi at a courier office on GT Road, Lahore, while 198 kilograms of heroin were recovered near Western Bypass, Hazarganji, Quetta.

The ANF stated that all operations have been registered under the Anti-Narcotics Act 1997, and investigations are ongoing.
