Mahmood Khan Achakzai Criticizes Nawaz Sharif, Says He Is “Knowingly Doing Wrong”

Lahore: Head of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has strongly criticized former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, stating that despite being a friend, Nawaz Sharif is fully aware that he is acting wrongly.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, Mahmood Khan Achakzai said, “Nawaz Sharif is my friend, but you know very well that what you are doing is wrong.” He questioned how Nawaz Sharif faces his family, adding that he is aware he lost the elections.

Achakzai praised the public for supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf despite the party not having an official election symbol, saying the people “performed a miracle” by searching for and voting for PTI candidates.

He clarified that he has no personal dispute with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif or Nawaz Sharif, but his disagreement is with the role of the military and intelligence agencies in politics. He said armed forces across the world operate within a defined constitutional framework and stressed that institutions should remain within their limits to avoid damaging the system.

“With due respect, the training of our establishment itself is flawed,” Achakzai remarked, adding that governance through force and intimidation cannot work. He urged institutions to abandon coercive practices and allow democratic systems to function.

Highlighting economic challenges, Achakzai said that 46 percent of Pakistan’s population is living below the poverty line, despite the country having sufficient resources. He called for collective wisdom to address national issues, urging lawyers, intellectuals, communists, and all segments of society to work together.

He emphasized that justice is the foundation of any society, quoting the Quran to say that a system cannot function without justice. “Injustice breeds hatred, and we must eliminate injustice,” he said, adding that an oppressive system cannot survive.

The head of Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan concluded by stating that they have taken an oath to defend the country and raise their voice against oppression. He acknowledged the importance of the armed forces for national defense but stressed that all institutions must operate within constitutional boundaries.
