Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Increases Educational Assistance Limit for Needy Students

*Islamabad:* Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal has increased the maximum limit of educational assistance for deserving students from **Rs100,000 to Rs150,000**, aiming to provide greater financial relief to students from low-income families.
According to details, Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection **Syed Imran Ahmed Shah** visited **PMAS Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi**, where he reviewed the educational assistance program being implemented under Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal. Vice Chancellor **Professor Dr Qamar Zaman** briefed the minister on the program’s progress, procedures, and the financial support being provided to students.
Speaking on the occasion, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah said that the current government considers **education a key investment in national development**. He added that the scholarship disbursement process is being made **more transparent, efficient, and timely**, with financial assistance transferred directly to university accounts to ensure merit and transparency.
The minister further stated that under the program, **deserving students from all provinces are being supported without any political discrimination**.
He informed that between **2022 and 2025**, a total of **16,956 cases** were approved and approximately **Rs575 million** was disbursed as educational assistance. During the current financial year, **107 students of Arid University** have already benefited from the program.
Syed Imran Ahmed Shah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue supporting students from low-income households so that **no deserving student is deprived of education due to financial constraints**. He also appreciated the efforts of Provincial Minister for Agriculture **Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Karmani** for promoting the education and agriculture sectors, expressing hope that **federal–provincial cooperation** would further strengthen student welfare and national development.
