Privatization is the Solution to All Problems, Says ANP Chief Aimal Wali Khan

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat): Aimal Wali Khan, leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), stated that privatization is the key to resolving Pakistan’s economic and institutional crises, emphasizing that the government should govern, not run businesses.

Addressing a gathering in Peshawar, Aimal Wali Khan criticized the state of national institutions, saying, “Pakistan Steel Mills, the Railways, and the national airline have been destroyed. Privatization will not only make them efficient but also generate additional tax revenue for the country.”

He stressed that privatization must be transparent, adding, “Non-transparent privatization is unacceptable. Currently, taxes are not being collected from 140 businesses.”

Aimal Wali Khan also called on government institutions to focus on their core responsibilities and urged the state to review and ensure transparency in all privatization processes.

Additionally, he remarked on the Afghan refugee situation, stating that they should not have been brought in, and if they were, proper measures should have been taken for their return.

Recently, the national airline PIA was privatized, with the Arif Habib Consortium acquiring it for PKR 13.5 billion.
