Opposition Walks Out of Balochistan Assembly Over Mines and Minerals Bill; CM Assures Investigation and Revision

Quetta : The opposition parties in the Balochistan Assembly staged a walkout during the session on Friday in protest against the Mines and Minerals Bill. The opposition, led by Dr. Malik Baloch, accused the government of deceitfully reintroducing certain controversial clauses that had previously been removed by the committee.
Dr. Malik Baloch, leader of the National Party, criticized the government for including these objectionable clauses back into the bill, despite their removal in committee discussions. He termed this act as a “grave betrayal” and argued that it was one of the most dishonest actions in parliamentary history. As a result of this, the opposition members staged a walkout from the session.
In response, Chief Minister Mir Sardar Fazal Baloch assured the opposition that the Speaker would investigate the matter and look into how and why the removed clauses were reintroduced into the original bill. He further promised that, after consulting with the opposition, a committee would be formed to review the controversial points and amend the bill accordingly.
Dr. Malik Baloch also emphasized that the opposition would not tolerate any compromise on the resources and coastal areas of Balochistan, and that they would continue to protest against the inclusion of these objectionable clauses.
The situation remains tense as the opposition vows to intensify their protests if their demands are not met.
