KP Police Seek Special Allowance Amid Rising Security Challenges

*Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):* The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police have once again urged the provincial government to approve a special allowance for police personnel in view of increasing security challenges and persistent terrorism threats in the province.

According to media reports, the KP Police have formally submitted a summary to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, requesting approval of a special allowance for the force. Police officials stated that the demand has been raised in light of the growing security risks faced by personnel on a daily basis.

Police authorities emphasized that the KP Police have been serving as a frontline force in the war against terrorism for several years. During this period, numerous officers and personnel have sacrificed their lives, while many others have sustained injuries in bomb blasts, targeted killings, and other violent incidents.

Officials noted that the threat of terrorism, including bomb explosions and targeted attacks, continues to exist, placing police personnel under constant pressure. Despite these challenges, police officers and staff are currently not receiving any special financial incentives or allowances, which has become a matter of concern for the force.

In the summary, police authorities have demanded the approval of a special allowance equivalent to basic pay for all police personnel to help ease their financial difficulties and enable them to perform their professional duties more effectively.

They further stated that approval of the special allowance would significantly boost the morale of the force and lead to noticeable improvements in overall performance. However, the summary also pointed out that the proposed allowance would place an additional financial burden of more than Rs4.23 billion per month on the provincial exchequer.

Police officials maintained that the measure is essential for improving the law and order situation and ensuring the welfare of police personnel. The final decision on the matter now rests with the provincial government.
