Mahmood Khan Achakzai Calls for National Conference to ‘Save Pakistan’ and Build a New Political Consensus

**Peshawar:** Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, head of Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan, and Member of the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has urged the country’s political, judicial, military, and civil leadership to convene a national conference aimed at pulling Pakistan out of its deepening crises.

Addressing a massive public gathering in Peshawar, Achakzai said Pakistan is engulfed in multifaceted turmoil, while “the crises are huge and we are small people.” He stressed that the only path to saving the country is through a comprehensive national conference lasting two to three days, involving judges, generals, politicians, journalists, intellectuals, civil society, and representatives from all walks of life.

He called for all stakeholders to “forgive each other and rebuild a new Pakistan through collective wisdom,” adding that his movement has no quarrel with anyone and seeks a nation where no citizen oppresses another, the Constitution remains supreme, sectarian conflict ends, and the elected Parliament becomes the true source of power.

Achakzai argued that “the state” consists of Parliament, provincial assemblies, and institutions responsible for taxation, asserting that former Prime Minister Imran Khan still possesses significant political strength with a full provincial government and dozens of votes in Parliament. He warned that if any attempt were made to impose governor’s rule, people would turn every square in Peshawar into “D-Chowk.”

Commenting on rising political tensions, he criticized abusive rhetoric, claiming opponents were attempting to anger democratic forces. He said Pashtuns are capable of responding but choose the path of restraint, emphasizing that even prophets were commanded to speak respectfully to tyrants.

Achakzai condemned what he described as the establishment’s “war hysteria,” claiming some forces seek conflicts with India and Afghanistan instead of pursuing progress in science, technology, and peaceful development like the rest of the world.

He questioned the credibility of those who lecture on Islam while allegedly giving bribes for votes, and criticized the persecution of Imran Khan, saying: “If he was not the right person, why did you make him prime minister? Now that he stands firm as a prisoner of conscience, millions stand with him.”

Achakzai called for unity among all ethnic groups residing in Pashtun lands—Hindko, Gilgiti, Saraiki, and others—declaring them all brothers. He said Pashtun resources had been exploited while their people were pushed into labor across the world, yet they never raised anti-Pakistan slogans.

He concluded the rally with the slogans: *“Pashtunkhwa Watan Zindabad, Inqilab Zindabad, Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan Zindabad, Tehreek-e-Insaf Zindabad.”*
