11th NFC Commission Meets Today; Provinces to Present Financial Briefings

Islamabad — The 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) is set to convene today under the chairmanship of Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. According to the official statement, finance ministers from all four provinces, along with private members, will attend the session. Each province will be given 10 minutes to brief the Commission on its financial situation, while the federal finance ministry will also present its own economic outlook.
The meeting will finalize the schedule and timeline for subsequent sessions aimed at determining the new NFC Award — a key mechanism for distributing financial resources between the federation and the provinces.
Finance Minister Aurangzeb said the federal government intends to listen to the provinces, share its own fiscal position transparently, and participate in the meeting with a *“Pakistan First”* approach.

### **KP Holds Preparatory Meeting Ahead of NFC Session**
Meanwhile, a consultative meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was held to prepare for the NFC session.
Officials briefed the Chief Minister that, under the NFC commitments made at the time of the merger of erstwhile FATA districts, KP is owed **Rs 1,375 billion**, which has not yet been released. The federal government had pledged **Rs 100 billion annually**, amounting to **Rs 700 billion** so far, but has provided only **Rs 168 billion**.
CM Afridi stated that the merged districts are not receiving their rightful share under the NFC, calling it a violation of **Article 160** of the Constitution. He reaffirmed that KP will vigorously defend its financial and constitutional rights in the meeting.
