Yasir Hussain Urges Focus on Corruption, Not Manhole Covers, After Tragic Death of 3-Year-Old in Karachi

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) – The heartbreaking death of three-year-old Ibrahim, who fell into an open manhole in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, has left the nation in mourning and stirred strong emotions across social media.

Actor and director Yasir Hussain, a father himself, expressed his grief on social media, stating, “The lid should not be placed on the manhole, but on corruption. Long live Pakistan.” His Instagram post quickly went viral, with users echoing his sentiment that corruption is the root cause of such tragedies.

Several other showbiz personalities, including Sajal Ali, Mahira Khan, and Ahsan Khan, also expressed sorrow and outrage over the incident.

The incident occurred when Ibrahim, after shopping with his mother at a popular mall, stepped onto a cardboard piece covering a manhole. The child fell into the sewer and was carried away by fast-flowing dirty water.

Due to governmental negligence, local residents mobilized machinery, raised funds for diesel, and conducted a search operation. After 14 hours, a sanitation worker recovered the child’s body approximately 1–1.5 kilometers downstream.

Yasir Hussain’s comments and the viral response underscore public frustration over systemic corruption and infrastructure neglect that contribute to such preventable tragedies.
