Imran Khan’s Services Cannot Be Overlooked Despite Political Differences: Iqrar ul Hassan

Lahore (Qudrat Daily) — Renowned anchorperson Iqrar ul Hassan has said that while he may have certain political differences with Imran Khan, the former prime minister’s contributions to the country cannot be ignored. He added that Imran Khan remains the politician who received the highest number of votes in the 2024 elections.
In a statement on X, Iqrar ul Hassan said that the cases filed against Imran Khan and the treatment he is facing in prison are condemnable. He stressed that even as a citizen and a prisoner, Khan is being deprived of his fundamental rights.
He further remarked that the current PTI leadership has been unable to play any effective role in securing Imran Khan’s release or providing relief, nor does he believe it will be able to do so in the future. “This was a crowd gathered around a single personality, and once that personality was removed from the scene, the party fell apart,” he said.
Iqrar ul Hassan argued that only a new, organized, and strong democratic party built around a political ideology rather than an individual can put an end to the 78-year-long cycle of political vendettas. Such a party, he said, would make decisions based on national and institutional interests through consultation and democratic principles, rather than personal ego or gain.
He added that if the youth succeed in uniting on a democratic platform, they can make a principled and organized effort not only for Imran Khan’s release but also to prevent future cycles of political victimization. He maintained that a fragmented PTI, where factions label each other as “tout,” is incapable of achieving this.
