KP Chief Minister Announces Weekly Protest in Islamabad, Warns Lawmakers Against Absence

Peshawar (Qudrat Daily) — Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced that a protest will be held in Islamabad every Tuesday, warning that any member of the provincial assembly who fails to participate will be reprimanded.
Addressing a prayer ceremony in Peshawar, CM Sohail Afridi said that today is a painful and tragic day, as peaceful workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were subjected to violence and even fired upon. He added that this was not the first time PTI workers had been targeted.
He stated that “certain powerful elements” treat the people like sheep and goats and do not want the supremacy of the Constitution and law in Pakistan. “The judiciary has been paralyzed; we will continue our struggle within constitutional and legal limits. Some people want chaos,” he remarked.
The Chief Minister said that PTI remained peaceful on 9 May and 26 November, and will continue to remain peaceful in future, but the sacrifices made by workers will not be wasted.
Sohail Afridi stressed that every Tuesday, all PTI-elected lawmakers must be present in Islamabad. “Any MPA who received a ticket from Imran Khan must reach Islamabad on Tuesday — and whoever does not show up will be condemned,” he said.
He further announced that protests will also take place outside Adiala Jail. “We will sit outside Adiala Jail as well. Until I am allowed to meet Imran Khan, I will go to Adiala Jail every Thursday,” the Chief Minister declared.
