KP Chief Minister Approaches Peshawar High Court Against Election Commission Summons

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has filed a petition in the Peshawar High Court challenging a summons issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In the petition, the CM’s legal team argued that the Election Commission called Sohail Afridi without any valid reason or justification, and that summoning the KP Chief Minister is unlawful.

The petition claims that the ECP’s action violates Articles 9, 10A, 17, and 25 of the Constitution. It further states that Afridi neither campaigned for anyone nor violated any rules of the Election Commission.

The plea seeks a declaration that the notice issued by the ECP is illegal and requests the court to restrain the Election Commission from taking any action against the Chief Minister.
