Rain Clouds Engulf Karachi; Showers Continue Across Multiple Areas

Karachi: Dark rain-bearing clouds have surrounded Karachi, triggering showers across several parts of the city. Some areas are experiencing light drizzle, while others are receiving heavy downpours.
Light rain was reported in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, while heavy rainfall continued in Bahria Town Precinct 31. Showers also hit Malir Halt, Rifah-e-Aam, and nearby localities, with light rain observed in Malir Cantt and Scheme 33.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rain clouds are concentrated over the eastern parts of Karachi and may expand to cover more areas. The low-pressure system over the region has intensified into a depression, drawing strong monsoon winds into Sindh. Under this system, intermittent rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected across most parts of Sindh until September 11.
The PMD said the system is currently positioned over southwest Rajasthan (India) and adjoining Sindh, bringing chances of moderate to very heavy rainfall in Karachi until September 11. The city may face urban flooding due to heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and gusty winds, potentially disrupting daily life.
Other districts including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Khairpur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, and Matiari are also expected to receive widespread showers during this period. Hyderabad, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Jamshoro may experience heavy to very heavy rains at isolated spots.
Meanwhile, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Ghotki are also forecast to receive widespread rain with thunderstorms until September 11.
The PMD has warned of potential urban flooding in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad, Tharparkar, Khairpur, Sukkur, Larkana, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, and Hyderabad. Additionally, thunderstorms with rain are also expected in Khuzdar, Lasbela, and adjoining areas.
