Islamabad: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan has issued directives to its workers to stage a protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad on Friday, July 26, against the increase in electricity and gas bills, despite the administration’s refusal to grant permission.
According to instructions issued by Jamaat-e-Islami on Thursday, workers have been instructed to gather at D-Chowk in Islamabad even though permission has not been granted by the Islamabad administration. The directive includes prayer and arrangements for meals after Friday prayers until 5 PM at the protest site. Workers are advised to bring tents, clothes, water bottles, pillows, and umbrellas to the designated protest area.
In case of obstacles from the government and Islamabad administration preventing access to the protest site, workers are instructed to use alternative routes to reach D-Chowk. They have been directed to avoid returning and instead protest at central points in cities if the internet is shut down or take instructions from the designated exchange.
Prior to this, Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Naseer Rizvi also gave the Jamaat-e-Islami an oral warning to prevent unauthorized protests. Jamaat-e-Islami plans to protest at D-Chowk against the increase in electricity and gas bills, but so far, permission to hold the protest has not been granted by the Islamabad administration.
