No Constitutional Amendment Possible Without PPP’s Support, Says Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry

Islamabad:Minister of State for Interior **Senator Talal Chaudhry** has said that **no constitutional amendment can be passed without the participation of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)**.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Chaudhry emphasized that **a two-thirds majority is required for any constitutional amendment**, making cooperation among major political parties essential.

He noted that the **27th Constitutional Amendment** would also **not be possible without the inclusion of PPP**, adding that the government wants to **take all political parties, including the opposition, on board** for any amendment made in the **national interest**.

Referring to past legislative efforts, Talal Chaudhry said that during the **26th Amendment**, the **concerns of the opposition were addressed in the Speaker’s office**, and the government plans to **consult other parties** similarly for the upcoming amendment.

He further mentioned that the government had **previously engaged the PTI through Maulana Fazlur Rehman**, but the party **ultimately refused to vote**.

“The need for amendments will always remain for the betterment of governance and national stability,” Chaudhry said, adding that **“if Parliament does not legislate, then what purpose does it serve?”**
