Adviser Rana Sanaullah Calls for Balanced Resource Distribution Between Centre and Provinces Under 18th Amendment

Islamabad:Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs **Rana Sanaullah** has said there is a need to **balance the distribution of resources** between the federal government and the provinces under the **18th Constitutional Amendment**.
Speaking to the media, Rana Sanaullah stated that while the Constitution is a **sacred document**, it is **not immutable**, and amendments are made to improve it. He noted that **26 amendments** have already been made to the Constitution, emphasizing that any future amendment would require a **two-thirds majority in Parliament**.
He clarified that there is **no immediate plan for a 27th Amendment**, adding that **healthy debate and dialogue** are the essence of democracy. Discussions among parliamentarians and political parties on key national issues are ongoing, but such matters **take time and consensus** to develop.
Rana Sanaullah stressed that the **PML-N has no issue with the 18th Amendment**, which primarily deals with **resource distribution between the federation and the provinces**. However, he said it is reasonable to **review the arrangement** if practical disparities have emerged over time.
He further stated that all political parties agree on the need for a **constitutional court** to handle constitutional matters more effectively. The adviser revealed that while the opposition, along with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, had suggested forming a **constitutional bench** instead, consensus was close when the **PTI withdrew and refused to sign** the agreement.
