Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Expresses Dissatisfaction Over NDMA’s Flood Relief

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has expressed dissatisfaction with the National Disaster Management Authority’s (NDMA) relief efforts for flood victims in the province.
In a statement, provincial government spokesperson and Advisor on Information, Barrister Dr. Saif, said the NDMA had abandoned KP’s flood-affected people. “The aid provided by NDMA is nothing more than a drop in the ocean,” he remarked, adding that the victims had been left helpless.
He claimed that apart from a few tents and good wishes, the province had received nothing meaningful from the federal authority. He emphasized that the KP government, under the supervision of the Chief Minister, had carried out extensive relief operations using its own resources and was now actively working on the rehabilitation of flood victims.
Barrister Saif further said that on the directives of the Chief Minister, compensation for flood victims had been doubled. “The families of martyrs have been given Rs. 2 million each, while the injured have received Rs. 1 million each,” he stated.
He reiterated that the KP government remained committed to supporting the flood-affected population, despite the inadequate assistance from NDMA.
