Historic Pakistan-China Agreement Signed for Engineering Training and Scholarships

Islamabad: In a landmark development, the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has signed a historic agreement with leading Chinese companies to enhance the skills and practical training of Pakistani engineers.

According to *Express News*, the agreement was finalized during the recent B2B conference held as part of the Prime Minister’s official visit to China. Participating companies include Thar Coal Block-1 Power Generation Company, Sino Sindh Resources, and Shanghai Electric Engineering Consulting Company.

Under the agreement, Pakistani engineers will receive hands-on training on various CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) projects, including the Thar Coal Project. The five-year plan will see 100 engineers trained at the Thar site, while others will be sent to China for advanced energy sector training.

The initiative also includes exchange programs, Chinese language training, and the establishment of a special scholarship fund worth PKR 350 million. Over the next five years, 175 deserving students will benefit from these scholarships. Additionally, Pakistani engineers will have access to online Chinese language courses to help align their skills with international standards.

PEC Chairman praised the agreement as a milestone for the practical development of Pakistani engineers, stating that it would provide valuable international exposure and language learning opportunities.

Engineer Waseem Nazir added that the deal not only opens new career pathways for Pakistani engineers but also plays a significant role in fulfilling the country’s energy and industrial demands.
