Yasir Hussain Urges Youth to Simplify Weddings: “Avoid Extravagance and Focus on the Essence

Pakistani actor and TV host **Yasir Hussain** has made an earnest appeal to the public—especially the younger generation—to **make weddings simpler and less financially burdensome**.
Speaking in a recent program, Yasir criticized the increasing trend of elaborate wedding events, saying:
> **”We’ve made weddings unnecessarily difficult by adding too many functions. We should aim to keep them simple.”**
He suggested that couples should **get married in the presence of close friends and family**, perform the **nikah**, and **host a simple reception (walima)** — nothing more.
Yasir highlighted how some of his own friends, who are planning their weddings, are **visibly stressed due to the financial burden**. He lamented that **the joy of getting married is often overshadowed by anxiety about expenses**.
> **”People are caught in the cycle of five or six events. It’s just too much — it’s cruel,”** he said.
During the conversation, fellow actor **Faysal Quraishi** added:
> **”Even a simple wedding these days can cost up to 5 million rupees.”**
To which Yasir responded:
> **”With that amount, one could start a good business or buy an apartment.”**
Both actors emphasized the need to **rethink societal norms** around marriage, and to prioritize **meaning and simplicity over lavish spending**.
