KP Government Helicopter Crashes in Mohmand While Delivering Aid to Bajaur; 5 Martyred, Including 2 Pilots

Peshawar– A Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government helicopter carrying relief supplies to the flood-affected areas of Bajaur district crashed in the Mohmand region, resulting in the martyrdom of five individuals, including two pilots.
According to *Express News*, the MI-17 helicopter lost contact with air traffic control while en route from Peshawar to Bajaur. The Chief Secretary of KP confirmed that the helicopter encountered severe weather conditions, leading to the tragic crash in the Chengai Banda area of Mohmand district.
Initial reports indicated that a loud explosion was heard by residents in nearby areas, raising immediate concerns. Locals reported difficulty accessing the crash site due to the rough and remote terrain.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that the helicopter was carrying essential aid to the rain-affected Salarzai area of Bajaur when it lost communication in the airspace over Mohmand. Despite all efforts to reestablish contact, the aircraft was later confirmed to have crashed.
Tragically, we have lost five members of our team, including two brave pilots,” said the Chief Minister. “These individuals laid down their lives while trying to save others. They are our true heroes, and their sacrifice will be remembered in golden words in history.”
He further announced that the provincial government will observe a day of mourning tomorrow, with the national flag flying at half-mast across KP. The bodies of the martyrs will be laid to rest with full state honors.
Emergency response teams have been dispatched to the crash site, while another helicopter is currently engaged in rescue operations in Buner district.
